What is Polyolefin?
Polyolefin is the preferred polymer in the packaging industry for its exceptional shrinking properties, crystal-clear clarity, and manufacturing process that doesn’t use chloride.
As a thermoplastic material, polyolefin contracts when heated and remains odorless throughout the process—a significant advantage over PVC shrink wrap, which releases a strong odor due to its chloride content.
Choose polyolefin for a safer, more effective packaging solution without the need for ventilation.
Polyolefin shrink wrap offers many advantages over PVC shrink wrap. In recent years, polyolefin has become the preferred shrink material for most shrink packaging applications. Our polyolefin shrink film is FDA approved for direct food contact.
*What is centerfold shrink wrap- Centerfold polyolefin shrink wrap is the ideal choice for packaging a wide range of products, from consumables to insect sprays. This versatile film is free of the chloride found in PVC shrink film, making it safer for food packaging.

The unique centerfold design allows for quick and easy insertion of products into the fold crease, covering them seamlessly on both sides. For optimal sealing, an L-Bar sealer is your best bet! It efficiently seals and cuts the polyolefin or PVC wrap in one smooth motion.
With numerous L-Bar sealer options available, finding the perfect fit for your operation has never been easier.
The cross-linking of polymers can be done chemically or with irradiation. Irradiation exposes the polymer or plastic to high-energy b rays. Crosslinking for polyolefin shrink film uses the irradiation process.
Exposure to b rays causes cross-linking bonds at the molecular level. This cross-linking effect provides a variety of benefits for the film. Benefits to cross-linked shrink film include:
Increased tensile strength
Higher abrasion resistance
Improved burst strength
Stronger, more durable seals
The irradiation also sterilizes the film making cross-linked shrink film ideal for health care and food packaging applications.

Both PVC and Polyolefin shrink wrap are primarily used for retail packaging. Each type of shrink wrap has different characteristics. See the chart below for detailed attributes for each.

How To Measure For Centerfold Shrink Wrap
Centerfold Polyolefin Shrink Film- Measuring your shrink wrap has never been easier. Simply add the product's width and height, then add 2-3 inches.
For example, if your product is 10 inches wide and 4 inches tall, you’d calculate 10 + 4 + 2 = 16. A 16-inch-wide film is perfect for wrapping that product.
If a 16-inch option isn’t available, always choose the next larger size—never go smaller.
Our polyolefin shrink wrap is frequently bought alongside:

The 1519 L Bar Sealer is a high-performance, stand-alone machine designed for efficient packaging in high-production environments. Featuring a 15"x19" sealing bar, it utilizes micro knife technology for precise and durable seals. The magnetic hold-down enhances workflow by allowing operators to load the next product while sealing is in progress.

The 1606-20 Shrink Tunnel is a versatile tabletop solution designed for efficient packaging in smaller operations. Perfectly paired with our 13"x13" Portable L-Bar Sealer, this shrink tunnel features Teflon-coated rollers that prevent the film from sticking, ensuring smooth operation.
Polyolefin is highly durable, offering excellent tensile strength and abrasion resistance. Its cross-linked properties enhance burst strength and seal integrity, making it ideal for various applications, including food and healthcare packaging.
Polyolefin is food grade and FDA-approved for direct contact with food. Its odorless properties and absence of chloride make it a safe choice for packaging consumables, ensuring quality and compliance in food packaging applications.
Polyolefin is very shelf-stable and will not shrink unless excessive temperatures are reached. Some PVC shrink wrap can shrink during summer storage and transport.
This is when the material comes off the roll flat with no folds. Single-wound or layflat polyolefin can be challenging to find as a stock item.
